THE CHALLENGE
Surpassed only by the 1988 Winter Olympic Games, World Skills Calgary 2009 is the second largest event ever staged in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and it results in a multi-million dollar boom for the city's economy.
In the wake of such activity, the challenge for Media Dog was to create an easy-to-manage and highly effective website which provides the global audience with not only real-time information about the competition itself, but also an easy-to-use taxonomy which allows visitors to easily find all of the different skill categories and locations for the events. As a bilingual website, it also has to provide a seamless experience for the visitor in addition to being easily managed in multiple languages.

As World Skills is a global competition, the organization requires the means to quickly and easily communicate and disseminate information to their world-wide audience in real time. FULL CMS WITH A BILINGUAL SOLUTION
Utilizing Media Dog's highly functional ConductorTM CMS, the World Skills Organization is able to easily manage all of the navigation and information on their site - in multiple languages. The site itself is also a bilingual solution which allows viewers to switch instantly between English and French.
CONTROLLED NAVIGATION
A simple and effective layout provides World Skills participants, the public and the media with all of the tools they need to gather information about the competition. A well-structured navigation system and informational hierarchy also allows viewers to easily traverse the site in order to locate the information they require. For even quicker access to information, a ColdFusion/Verity K2 powered internal site search helps visitors find the information they are looking for within both the CMS content and PDF files.
GLOBAL NETWORK
Since the World Skills Competition operates globally, Media Dog created many interactive features such as a visitor poll, online forms and daily countdown timers. As a result, no matter where the viewer lives, these features create a sense of involvement as well as an easy way for people to provide feedback and interact on a much deeper level with the World Skills Organization.
